David graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1971. He spent a post graduate year studying equine anaesthesia at the university. He then spent seven years working as an assistant in mixed practice in Shrewsbury.
In 1979 he joined Rhis Owen to form Fyrnwy Equine Clinic and has been part of the practice ever since.
Outside appointments include working on the Doncaster Sales Veterinary Panel, Chief Veterinary Officer for the Royal Agricultural Society, lecturer for the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) pre-purchase examination workshops, veterinary examiner for the Worshipful Company of Farriers (WCF), veterinary surgeon for Uttoxeter racecourse and numerous point to point meetings.
Outside of work, David enjoys riding and keeping poultry.
