Prescription Only Medicines Veterinary, (and other categorised drugs) are available from your veterinary surgeon OR can be purchased with a written prescription from another veterinary practice or pharmacy.

The veterinary surgeon may prescribe POM-Vs only for horses/animals under his or her care.

A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.

You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be prescribed for your horse/animal.

The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal requiring a repeat prescription every 6 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances.

To ensure we are able to process and issue all repeat prescriptions efficiently and without foreseen delay, we require 2 full working days’ notice.

If you are unable to wait 48 hours and require a fast-track review, please alert our staff at the time of request and we will attempt to accommodate your request the same day. If the medication request is approved by a Veterinary Surgeon, we will either dispense the same day or the next working day (subject to wholesale stock).

This will incur an extra charge of £15.00

You can also request a written prescription to purchase medicines elsewhere. This will incur a standard charge of £19.85.
