Gastroscopy is a form of medical endoscopy using a long endoscope that enables us to visualise your horses oesophagus, stomach and the early part of the small intestine. Gastroscopy is the only way to correctly diagnose equine gastric ulcer syndrome and ensure your horse receives appropriate treatment. There are two very specific types of gastric ulcers that require different treatment strategies so a gastroscopic diagnosis is an important tool when it comes to both diagnosis and treatment.

Gastroscopy may also be indicated in cases of recurrent choke, colic, or weight loss.

We frequently offer cost effective gastroscopy clinics to help keep the costs of this procedure to a minimum and we are happy to perform gastroscopy on horses referred by other vets.
