Cardiac abnormalities such as changes in rhythm or murmurs are not uncommon in horses, particularly in athletic animals. Thankfully most of these are not serious but there are occasions where these abnormalities can lead to reduced performance or even concerns about safety for ridden work. As part of our internal medicine service, we are able to carry out comprehensive cardiac investigations including resting and exercising ECG’s and cardiac ultrasound to fully investigate any abnormalities detected.
