Fyrnwy Zone Visit Scheme 2022

In addition to our usual service, we also offer reduced-price Zone Visit scheme.

The scheme enables pre-booked routine work to be performed with a significantly discounted visit fee. The cost of the routine work provided will be charged on top of your Zone Visit fee and will be at our standard costs at the time. The scheme has been devised to reduce costs for you and with little planning, you can save money on your veterinary bill.

What services are available on a Zone Visit?

  • Vaccinations
  • Routine Health/Wellness Examinations – not for ill horses
  • Medication Checks
  • Blood sampling (not requiring a none-routine examination) such as Routine ACTH Blood Sampling for Monitoring
  • Passport ID’s
  • Routine dental rasp (does not include extensive rasping, extractions – Please note if more extensive dental work is required, the vet will advise to book a follow up Standard Visit. The follow up treatment will not qualify for a Zone Visit).

What services are NOT available on a Zone Visit?

  • Poorly Horse examinations, including lameness checks
  • Dental extractions and extensive rasping
  • Sedate for clips – each horse can respond differently to the sedative drugs and we prefer our attending vets to be allocated more time to ensure your horse is safe. A sedate for clip can be booked on a standard visit at our normal prices
  • Sedate for Farriers – we are unable to co-ordinate bookings with 3rd parties
  • Any work which is likely to take more than 20 minutes

Is the location I keep my horse at within the Zone Visit Radius?

Zone visits have been divided into several areas. To find out which day of the week your area is in, please see below maps for our Baschurch and Wrexham areas or contact the practice and a member of our team will be happy to help.

The Zone area will be determined by where your horse is situated, and not by where you live. If your horse is kept outside of a zone visit area, we may at our discretion (i.e., if the vet is relatively nearby) offer to visit on a Zone Visit Scheme. Please see “How much will it Cost” for more information. If you are unsure please contact the practice for an accurate cost.

The visits are booked on a first come, first served basis, and the number of visits may be limited on the day. We do get fully booked some weeks in advance; therefore, early booking is recommended.

What days do we offer a Zone Visit?

We offer Zone visits on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and aim to visit each Zone area twice a month. See our 2022 calendar here.

How Much Will It Cost?

Any pre-booked zone visit will be charged at the significantly reduced visit fee of £10.00 incl. VAT. This is for all areas within the zone radius. If you wish to book a Zone Visit but the location where you keep your horse falls outside of our radius, you will incur normal visit fee’s but we will discount you £10 (standard fee for a Zone Visit) Our team will provide a cost on request.

“A standard minimum visit fee which covers up to 15 miles from the practice usually costs £48.79 so by taking advantage of our Zone Visit Scheme, you can immediately save a minimum of £38!!!”

How to Book a Zone Visit?

  • Each Zone Visit is required to be booked by 1pm the day before, this must be done on the last working day prior to the visit. This means that Zone Visits on Tuesdays following a Bank Holiday must be booked by 1pm on the previous Friday.
  • We will not be able to offer you a specific time for the Zone Visit but once all bookings have been planned, a member of our team will call you on the day before to advise whether your zone is scheduled for a morning or afternoon slot. The morning slot runs between 9-1pm and afternoon should run between 2-5pm. The allocated Vet for your day will give you a telephone call when they are en - route or to provide an estimated arrival time.
  • The practice will allocate a vet for your zone day, you can’t request a specific vet. Visits with your preferred vet will still be available at the standard visit price, subject to availability.
  • We strongly recommend case continuity and therefore ideally the vet who first attends should continue to monitor your horse’s progress and its response to treatment. For this reason, re-examinations of on-going cases are not recommended or covered on our Zone Visit Scheme.
